The Sarnia Legionnaires will play an unprecedented number of pre-season games this month.
 

General manager Bob Williamson has announced the Western Jr. 'B' hockey will play five exhibition contests, compared to the three or four normally scheduled.
 

The extra games may come in handy because the Legionnaires have plenty of holes to fill. In fact, eight players from the 2012 campaign are too old to return and a couple of others are expected to move on to the Ontario Hockey League.
 

Training camp will kick off August 18 at the Sarnia Arena, with about 50 prospects expected to be on hand.  The first exhibition game will take place Friday, Aug. 24 when Sarnia travels to Chatham to meet the Maroons. The two clubs will go back at it the following evening at the Brock Street rink, with the puck drop set for 7:10 p.m.  Next up will be an Aug. 28 match in Michigan against the Kalamazoo K-Wings of the North American Junior Hockey League.
 

Sarnia will close out its preseason with a home-and-home series with the London Nationals. The first encounter will take place Aug. 29 in the Forest city, with the two squads facing off at Sarnia Arena the next night.
 

The 51-game regular schedule gets going Sept. 6 with Sarnia in Leamington to face the Flyers. There will be three interlocking contests, including one on Oct. 6 at the annual Showcase Tournament in St. Catharines. The Elmira Sugar Kings of the Midwest Conference will provide the opposition.
 

Sarnia will also play a road game in Kitchener against the Midwest's Dutchmen and will host the Stoney Creek Warriors of the Golden Horseshoe Conference on Nov. 8.
 

As in the past, most home games (21) will be played on Thursday nights. There will be three Tuesday contests and one Saturday game.
