sarnia beavers vs Oakville titans
The
Sarnia Beavers Sr. Lacrosse team
opened their 2012 season with an
official opening that included
members from the 1953 team.
Sarnia
would open the scoring with two
quick goals in the first period but
soon fell behind as Oakville pulled
away and led 7-3 after the first
period. In the second period
the Beavers rebounded and outscored
Oakville five to four to narrow the
gap but still trailing by a score of
11-8. In the third the Beavers
fought back and took the lead once
before Oakville tied things up and
then regained the lead then added
one more to finish the game taking
the win with a final score of 14 -
12.
"It
wasn't bad for our first game. All
and all we did some good things and
we did some bad things but that
gives us the idea what we have to
work on for the next game," said
Beavers Head Coach Gord Neely.
"They didn't have a surplus of
players but they played smart and
you can't fault them for that. We
just have to relax and take our
time. When we hurried it we got in
trouble, when we slowed the game
down we were effective, so that is
what we have to do"
Goaltending duties were shared by
Danny Walters and Ken Barrett.
Scoring for the Beavers were Andy
Cadieux and Brian Quinn who each
score 3, Chris Davey scored a
pair and singles by Brandon
McFarlene, Brad Holbrough,
Jamie Pillon and Gord Neely Jr.
Colin Holbrough earned 6 points with
6 assists in the game.
"A lot
of jitters out there, players were
doing things they don't normally do
out there," said Neely. "We have to
keep doing we are not really sure
what we are up against as we are new
in the league because we are new,
it's going to be a growing pain for
us but hopefully we can pick it up."

The
Sarnia Beavers are back in action
next weekend when they travel to
Huntsville on Sat April 28th.
Their next home game is set for May
5th against Norwood at Clearwater
Arena starting at 4:00 pm.
