Mooretown Earned One Point in Two Games

In Great Lakes
Jr. C Hockey league action the
Mooretown Flags tied one and
lost one on the weekend.
On Friday the
Flags traveled to Alvinston and
suffered a 5 - 4 OT loss.
Penalties hurt the Flags in this
game as Alvinston scored four
including the game winner on
seven power play opportunities.
After the first
period the two teams were tied
at one each. Mooretown scored
their only power play out of
seven chances in the second,
however dropped to 4 - 2 heading
into the third. The Flags made a
comeback scoring two goals to
even the score sending the game
into over time.
Karsten Berg led in the scoring
for Alvinston with 2 goals, Joe
Archer and Kole Keating scored
singles and the game winner was
scored by Clint Rose.
Scoring for Mooretown were Ryan
Lyle with 2 and Kyle Smith and
Ethan Dupont each scored 1.
Alvinston outshot the Flags 37 -
36. Netminders Cam
MacAlpine earned the win and
Brandon Johnson took the loss
with both making 32 saves.
On Saturday at
home the Flags dropped a 4 - 1
decision to the Blenheim Blades.
Blenheim scored 3 in the first
and 1 in the third.
Matt Brandon scored the lone
goal for Mooretown on a power
play with Sam Jasmin assisting.
Corbin Hagerman, Brandon
Falconer, Austin Bentley and
Tyler Boughner each scored for
the Blades.
Mooretown went one for four on
the power play, Blenheim went
zero on two.
Blenheim outshot
the Flags 34 - 32. Riley
Collins was in net for 20:00
minutes for the Flags made 11
saves on 14 shots. Brandon
Johnson made 19 saves on 20
shots.
Klinton Kenney took the win for
the Blades making 31 saves.
Mooretown record
after six games stands at 1-4-1.
The Flags have three games
schedule for this coming week
starting with two back to back
home games on Wednesday October
1 at 8:00 pm against Lakeshore
and Essex on Saturday at 7:30 pm
then on Sunday they are in
Blenheim.
