Mooretown Flags Lost in Amherstburg

The Mooretown Flags were in Amherstburg on Sunday night in Great Lakes Jr. C hockey action and after a come from behind attempt lost with a final score of 4 - 3.

 

Mooretown allowed 2 late period goals in the first period and again in the second to enter the third period trailing 4-0.

In the third period Mooretown made a come back and scored all 3 of their goals with Matt Brandon scoring the first unassisted.  Call up Devin Brown scored from Ethan Dupont and the final a power play goal by Justin VanBuskirk with Sam Jasmin and Matt Brandon earning the assist.

"Some of the things the coaches have been stressing and working on started to click in the third." General Manager Jon Baker said

Although outshot in the game 41 - 28 the Flags carried the play in the third period and outshot league leading Amherstburg 15-11 in the frame.

Brandon Johnson was strong in net for the Flags turning away 37 shots.

The Flags are now 1 - 3 - 0 for the season.

 
Next up for the Flags will be a road game Friday night against Alvinston in Watford and then at home this Saturday against the Blenheim Blades,   Both games begin at 7:30 pm.

Injury update:

  • Captain Dan Lumley who suffered an upper body injury in Saturday's game against Dresden will be out for four to six weeks.  David Addley who was also injured on Saturday is day to day.  He will be seeing a therapist on Monday.  Caden Fleming suffered a knee injury in the second period in Sunday's game and is also day to day.
