Mooretown Flags Downed by Essex

At home on Saturday night the Flags started off well scoring 1:15 seconds into the game but the tables turned and the game ended with a final score of 6 - 2 for the Essex 73's in Great Lakes Jr C hockey league action.

 

Austin Hewton was parked out front of Essex net and tap in the loose puck to give the Flags the 1 - 0 early lead.  Jeff Williams and Matt Brandon earned the assist on the play. Six minutes later Michael Vieira of Essex answered back for the tie. Period ended tied at one apiece.

 

 

Essex went on and scored three goals in the second before Ryan Lyle scored on the power play with Justin Vanbuskirk and Sam Jasmin assisting.  Daniel McIntyre scored the first goal for Essex and Phil Janikowski scored the next two.  Essex lead 4 - 2 heading into the third where they added two more goals before the game ended. Scott Bromley and Mark MacPherson scored the final two for the 73's.
 

Essex outshot Mooretown 28 - 21.
Mooretown's netminder Brandon Johnson suffered the loss, Colin Lauzon earned the win for Essex.

 

The Flags look to improve their 2-5-1 record today (Sun Oct 5) when they travel to Blenheim who currently are sitting in third spot. (5-2)
