The Jr C Mooretown Flags four game losing streak
ended Saturday night in Mooretown after defeating
the Dresden Jr Kings 6 - 2.
Mcacgregor Haddon set the tone
scoring his 6th of the year just :28 seconds into
the game. Dan Lumley and Jeff Schroeter picked
up the assist. Macks Holmes evened the score
at 7:55 for Dresden then at 14:46 Spencer Bronzi
regained the lead for the Flags with Austin
Ainsworth and Caden Fleming assisting.
Second period action saw the Flags
score two unanswered goals to widen their lead to 4
- 1. Canden Fleming from Dan Lumley and
Macgregor Haddon scored the first goal at 1:27 and
Austin Ainsworth from Jeff Schroeter and Caden
Fleming at 16:33.
In the third Dresden scored their
second and final goal at 5:50 by Braedon Nicolson.
From that point on the Jr Kings were shut down and
Mooretown added two more goals. Schroeter from
Lumley scored the first at 7:12 and Brandon Layman
from Sam Jasmin and Brett Thompson scored the final
goal at 11:52.
Both sides went scoreless on power
play opportunities. Mooretown went zero for
five and Dresden went zero for three.
Mooretown outshot Dresden 39 - 38.
Brandon Johnson earned the win with 36 saves.
Jamie Morreau took the loss with 33 saves.
The Flags are now 7- 6-1 OTL-1 SOL
for a total of 16 points and are tied for 4th place
in the standings race with Blenheim.
The team has one game set for next
week when they host Belle River on Wednesday at the
Moore Sports Centre with a puck drop at 8:00pm.
