Mooretown Flags Edge Out Alvinston

The Flags travelled to Alvinston on Friday night and edged out the Flyers with a final score of 3 - 2 in Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey league action.
Alvinston opened the scoring at 13:58
in the first on a goal scored by Dylan Lightfoot and
led 1 - 0 after the first period. Brett
Thompson assisted by Jordan McBeath and Sam Jasmin
tied the game early in the second at 1:49 and the
two teams finished the second tied at one apiece.
In the third Dan Warner regained the
Flyers lead and the Flags answered back less than
two minutes later. Dan Lumley from Ryan Lyle
scored the tying goal. The momentum continued
for the Flags and Ryan Lyle scored the game winner
just over two minutes later to take the lead for the
first time with Dan Lumley and Macgregor Haddon
scoring.
The Flyers outshot the Flags 51 - 31.
Steven Taylor earned the win in net for the Flags
made 49 saves.
Fourteen minutes in penalties were
handed out in the game all served by Mooretown on
three infractions that included a 10 minute
misconduct for head contact. Alvinston went
scoreless on the three power play opportunities.
The Flags are now 18-17-1-2 for the season and hold
sixth place. The Flags have two regular season
games remaining both at home starting tonight
(Saturday Jan 25) against Wallaceburg. Game time
7:30. The final regular season game is on Feb
1 against Amherstburg.
