Mooretown Flags Losing Streak Continues

The Flags were in Essex Tuesday night and came away with their third loss after losing to the 73's 5 - 4.
The Flags traveled to Essex with a
short bench of 15 skaters and 2 goalies.
Missing from the lineup were Caden Fleming
(fractured knee cap), Chad Beauchamp (broken hand),
Jeff Schroeter (broken ankle), Mitchell Minder (shoulder injury)
and
Adam Hayes (suspension)
In the first period Ryan Lyle scored the first goal
on a power play with Jordan McBeath and Austin
Ainsworth assisting. Alex Garon answered back
for Esses to tie the game 1 - 1 after one.
Second period it was all power play goals for the
two teams.
David Addley scored the first power
play goal at 2:34 assisted by Lyle and Spencer
Bronzi. Essex tied things up at 9:07 with
Tyler Raymont scoring. Sam Jasmin regained the
Mooretown lead after scoring his power play goal at
10:56 with Dan Lumley and Sam McCormack assisting
and at 15:09 the final power play goal of the period
was scored by Jordan Ryan and the period ended with
both sides even at 3 - 3.
In the third period Essex took the lead for the
first time at 11:07 after Corey Beaulieu scored a
shorthanded goal. A minute and thirty seconds later
Essex scored on the power play to widen the lead to
5 - 3. Sam Jasmin narrowed the gap less than a
minute later after scoring unassisted and actio
continue and Essex held on to take the win.
In all Mooretown and Essex scored
three power play goals. Mooretown had a total
seven opportunities, Essex had five.
Essex outshot the Flags 46-20.
The Flags remain in 6th place in the
Great Lakes Jr C hockey league with a record of
17-17-1-2. Next up the Flags travel to
Alvinston on Friday night January 24th. Game
time 7:30.
