After defeating the Lakers in
Wallaceburg 7 - 4 on Wednesday night the Flags
traveled to Dresden and suffered a 6 - 3 loss.
Dresden scored three unanswered goals in the first
period added two more in the second to take a 5 - 0
lead after two periods of play.
In the third period the Flags went on
a power play surge and scored three back to back
goals. Matt Brandon, Sam McCormack and Brett
Thompson each scored for the Flags. With the
score at 5 - 3 heading into the last minute of play
Mooretown pulled their goalie in the attempts to tie
things up but Dresden found the empty net and
secured the win.
Derek Daly scored three goals in the
game for Dresden that included the empty netter.
Dillon Liberty scored two and Macks Holmes scored a
single.
Mooretown was outshot 34 - 24 by Dresden. The
Flags netminding was shared by Steven Taylor and
Brandon Johnson. Taylor made 12 saves on 17
shots, Johnson made 16 on 16. Brent Paxton
earned the win made 21 saves.
Mooretown went three for seven on power play
opportunities. Dresden went one for four.
The Flags remain in 6th place just
two points ahead of Amerherstburg and four points
behind Blenheim who they take on tonight (Saturday)
in Mooretown. Game time 7:30.
