Mooretown Flags Drops Game 1 in Blenheim

Mooretown dropped a 5 - 1 loss to Blenheim in game 1 in Great Lakes Jr. C Hockey playoff action against the Blenheim Blades.


Blenheim went up by 3 goals in the first period before Mooretown scored their only goal in the last minute of play.  Blenheim added two more in the second and the third period was scoreless.

 

Adam Hayes assisted by Macgregor Haddon scored for the lone goal Mooretown. 

 

For Blenheim Zack Horvath, Conner Annett (power play), Kirk McKillop (power play), Derek Muzzatti and Tyler Boughner (short handed) scored.

 

Shots on goal were close with Blenheim shooting 30, Mooretown 29.  Brandon Johnson took the loss in net for the Flags made 25 saves, Eric Stewards earned the win made 28 saves.

 

Mooretown suffered 26 penalty minutes on 5 infractions, Blenheim took 10 minutes on 5 infractions.

 

Mooretown went zero for four on the power play, Blenheim scored two on three opportunities.

 

The two teams meet tonight (Sat Feb 8) in Mooretown for game two.  Puck drop 7:30 pm.
