Mooretown Flags Come From Behind to Win

The Mooretown Flags were down 3 - 1
heading into the third period and bounced back with
three goals in the third to edge out the third place
Belle River Canadiens with a final score of 4 - 3.
Ryan Lyle opened the scoring early in
the first with Clay Williams and Chad Beauchamp
assisting. Belle River answered back on the
power play at 7:08 with Branden Larocque scoring.
The first ended with both sides equal.
In the second Belle River would take
the two goal lead late in the period at 17:15 and
18:23 with Kody Gagnon and Brenden Crundwell
scoring.
A couple of goals by the Flags scored within a
minute apart starting at 6:46 tied the game.
Jeff Schroeter from Sam Jasmin scored the first goal
and Dan Lumley assisted by Macgregor Haddon scored
the second. The game winner came at 18:05 by
Brett Thompson from Jeff Schroeter.
Belle River outshot the Flags 39 -
35. In net, Brandon Johnson earned the win for the
Flags making 36 saves. Jacob Lucier made 31
saves for Belle River.
Mooretown took six penalty minutes on
three infractions, Belle River took ten on five
infractions.
The Flags went zero for five on the
power play, Belle River scored once on three
opportunities.
This was the fourth time these two
teams competed and they are tied with two wins.
The final game between these two teams will be on
Jan 8.
The Flags are currently in sixth
place in a tight Great Lakes Jr C standings race
with 30 points. Alvinston and Blenheim share 4th
spot with
31 points each.
On Saturday Mooretown will host
Alvinston and with a win the Flags will take 4th, a
loss they will remain in 6th. Game time is set
for 7:30 pm at the Moore Sports Recreation Centre.
