Hockey League action the Mooretown Flags edged out
the Kingsville Comets 4 - 3 in Kingsville.
The Comets would take a
1 - 0 lead at 16:11 in the first period with Robert
Jardine scoring for the Comets.
Jeff Schroeter would
start things off for the Flags at 1:56 into the
second assisted by McGregor Haddon and Dan Lumley.
Haddon scored the second goal at 7:44 with Schroeter
assisting. Kingsville answered back for the
tie at 9:08 with Peter Ducharme scoring. At
17:06 Dan Lumley regained the Flags lead with
Schroeter assisting. The Flags led 3 - 2
heading into the third period.
Mike Burns scored the
only power play goal in the game at 1:14 in the
third period. Schroeter earned his fourth
point of the night assisting on the goal along with
Travis Mullen. Kingsville came within one at
4:13 with Steven Spada scoring unassisted. The
Flags held on to the end to take the win.
Kingsville outshot the
Flags 36 - 25. Braden Palocz earned the win
with a total of 33 saves. Marcus Rees took the
loss.
The Flags scored once on
seven power play opportunities and allowed no goals
on five Kingsville power plays opportunities.
Mooretown remains in
seventh spot in the standings race with a record of
14-13-4-1 for a total of 33 points. Currently
they are one point and one game back from Dresden.
The Flags has two games
coming up next weekend when they travel to Belle
River to take on the second place Canadiens then
return home on Saturday to face Alvinston who
currently are sitting in third place. Both
games begin at 7:30.
