Stay Alive in Game Four

Facing elimination the Mooretown Flags
remained in the series after taking a 6 - 5
win in game four against the Belle River Canadiens
in Great Lakes Jr C quarter finals.
In the first period
the Flags took a 2 - 1 lead. Belle River opened the
scoring at 8:36 on a power play goal by Brenden
Crundwell. The Flags answered back at 12:46
with Riley Roberts scoring the equalizer.
Travis Mullen power play goal at 16:31 gave
the Flags the lead heading into the second.
In the second period
both side scored two goals each and the Flags
remained in the lead at the end of the second.
Brenden Larocque scored a second power play goal at
11:29 for Belle River that evened the score.
Andrew Sokol regained the lead for the Flags at
15:49 followed Jeff Schroeter less than a minute
later on the power play. Brenden Crundwell
scored his second of the night for the Canadiens at
17:56 to narrow the gap as he Flags led 4 - 3
heading into the third.
Third period action
saw Belle River scored back to back goals the first
just :25 seconds into the period by Branden
Larocque and Larocque scored the second giving him
his third goal of the night and the Canadiens the
lead for the first time at 4:46. Mooretown fought
back and Dan Lumley scored the equalizer at 9:04.
McGregor Hadden scored for the Flags that turned out
to be the game winning goal at 15:00 as Mooretown
held on and took the win sending the two teams to
game five.
Top point
getters were Mike Burns and Jeff Schroeter who each
had a 4 point night. Burns with four assists
and Schroeter one goal and three assists. Dan
Lumley earned 3 points in the night with his single
goal and two assists.
Mooretown outshot
Belle River 51 - 37. Goalie Brandon Johnson
earned the win, Zakk Olvin took the loss.
Belle River went two
for two on the power play. Mooretown scored
twice on seven opportunities.
Belle River leads the
series 3 - 1. Game five is back in Belle River
on Tuesday February 12 for a 8:00 pm game start.
