Capped Weekend with Win in
Blenheim

Blenhein, On - The Flags took their second win of the weekend on Sunday in Great Lakes Jr C hockey action with a 4 - 1 win over the third place Blenheim Blades.
"Anytime we play them
[Blenheim] we have to make sure we come ready to
play as they are always big 2 points to get." said
Head Coach Jordan Pennesi
Andrew Sokol gave the
Flags the lead after scoring the lone goal in the
first period at 8:56 with Jeff Schroeter and Riley
Roberts earning assists. Mike Burns added to
the score at 1:07 into the second period with
Schroeter and Roberts again earning the assists.
Blenheim narrowed the gap at 4:58 while on a power
play goal by Tyler Clarke. Period two would
end with the Flags leading 2 - 1.
Third period action
it was all Flags with Dan Lumley starting things off
at 9:16 on a power play with Schroeter and Travis
Mullen assisting. The final goal of the night
was scored by the same line as the first with Sokol
scoring and Schroeter and Roberts assisting.
Jeff Schroeter had a
hand in all Flags goals of the night earning a total
of 4 points in the game. Followed by Riley Roberts
who assisted on 3 goals for 3 points in the game.
Mooretown outshot
Blenheim 32 - 21. The Flags allowed 1 goal on
5 power play opportunities and scored 1 power play
goal on 2 opportunities.
Brandon Johnson
earned the win in net. Dylan Vanderpol took
the loss.
"We played really
well we had a good performance out of Brandon
Johnson and the boys continued their success from
Saturday night." said Pennesi referring to Saturdays
6 - 2 win over Wheatley.
The Flags are now
10-9-4-1 with 25 points for the season and have
taken 5th spot in the tight race with Wheatley who
has 23 points and one game back. Alvinston
holds 4th place with 31 points.
"It was a good
weekend for us as we moved up a couple of spots in
the standings which was good to see as these games
are really crucial." said Pennesi
The Flags are back in
action on Tuesday when they travel to face the
league leading Essex 73's (21-3-0-1). This is
the fifth meeting between these two teams.
Essex has taken 2 wins and 2 overtime wins in
previous games.
"It's a really big
game on Tuesday as Essex is playing really well
lately they are on a big winning streak." said
Pennesi "We want to keep our streak alive."
