Mooretown Remain
Ahead of Dresden With Saturday Night Win

The Mooretown Flags remain just one point ahead of the Dresden Kings after taking a 5 - 2 win last night in Mooretown.
After two periods of
play the Flags led 2 - 0 with Dan Lumley scoring
first on a power play assisted by Jeff Schroeter at
10:40. Late in the period at 18:27 Caden
Fleming scored with Schroeter and Riley Roberts
assisting.
Dresden's Jesse Allen
put the Kings on the scoreboard at 4:19 in the
second period. Mooretown answered back at
12:57 with Jordan McBeath scoring with Frankie White
and Calab Harse assisting. Score after two
periods of play was 3 - 1 for Mooretown.
Schroeter earned his
third point of the night scoring a power play goal
at 5:22 in the third period. Dan Lumley
contributed on the goal. Dresden came back
with a second goal with Josh Beatty scoring.
As the clock was winding down Dresden trailing by 2
pulled their goalie for the extra man attacker but
were unsuccessful and Dan Lumley scored the final
goal into the empty net. Mike Burns and Jordan
Orth earned assists on the final goal.
Mooretown outshot
Dresden 37 - 33. Brandon Johnson earned the
win in net with 31 saves, Brent Paxton took the loss
with 32 saves.
Mooretown went 2 for
6 on the power play, Dresden went 0 for 5.
The Flags are now 12
- 11 - 4 - 1 with a total of 29 points and currently
sit in 6th place in the Great Lakes Junior C Hockey
League.
The Flags have one
more home game before the Christmas break when they
host Alvinston on Saturday December 22. Game
time is at 7:30 pm at the Moore Recreation Centre.
