Moving On Up With
Win Over Wheatley

The Flags are slowly
moving up as they are now tied with Wheatley for
fifth spot after defeating the Sharks 6 - 3 at home
before the home town crowd.
Jordan Orth lead the Flags with an early first
period goal at 2:41 assisted by Calab Harse and
Travis Mullen. A power play goal by Jeff
Schroeter from Dan Lumley and Mullen at 6:52 gave
them the 2 - 0 lead heading into the second.
A short handed,
unassisted goal at 7:35 by Jordan Orth, his second
of the night pushed the Flags to a 3 - 0 lead in the
second. Wheatley battled back and at 14:43 Joe
Woelk scored the Sharks first goal, but :16 seconds
later Andrew Sokol from Jeff Schroeter gave
Mooretown the 3 point spread as they took the 4 - 1
lead into the third.
The
second period saw major penalties handed out and the
Flags had three players tossed out of the game.
Jordan McBeath was the first to go for a checking
from behind call, then later in the period Andrew
Sokol and Mike Burns from the Flags were ejected
along with Wheatley's Kevin Swatzky and Lucas
Raffoul for fighting.
Play resumed and at 3:19
in the third Alex Rutherford from Cody Hardman and
Dan Hachey widened the lead. Again Wheatley
dug in and Kyle Quick answered back with two back to
back goals the first 3:49 and the second at 5:39.
Mooretown final goal came at 9:23 with Caden Fleming
scoring on the power play assisted by Mullen, his
3rd point of the night and McGregor Haddon.
Wheatley outshot the
Flags 30 - 26. Net minder Braden Palocz earned
the win for the Flags, Robbie Vrabel took the loss.
Mooretown penalty kill lines were perfect denying
Wheatley of 8 opportunities. The Flags were
also perfect in their power play opportunities going
2 for 2.
Both Mooretown and
Wheatley are even with 23 points each. Dresden
is nipping at their heels as they are just one point
back with 22 points.
Mooretown is back in
action tonight as they head to Blenheim.
Then on Tuesday the Flags are in Essex and they
return home on Saturday Dec 8 when they host Bell
River.
