Mooretown,
ON – After a small blip in their six game winning
streak, the Mooretown Flags returned to winning
Saturday night with a 6-4 victory over Dresden.
After no
scoring in the first period, the second period saw
all of the scoring for Mooretown. Dan Lumley began
the games scoring with a shorthanded goal 1:13 into
the second period. Mooretown would go on to score
two more, as Josh Teschke picked up a powerplay
goal, and Aaron Schieman an even-strength goal 1:21
apart to make it a 3-0 Flags lead.
Derek Daly
would cut into that lead with a goal 21 seconds
later, but Kurtis Glowa would restore it with a
powerplay goal. Dylan Mertz would pick up Dresden's
final goal of the period, but the Flags were not
done yet, as Mike Burns and Michael Gray each scored
for a six goal Mooretown second period.
It would
prove to be enough, though Dresden would score twice
more s Taylor Sisson and Derrick VanEvery each
scored, but the Jr. Kings still trailed 6-4.
Seth
Hellinga had the start and picked up his second win
of the season making 25 saves.
Mooretown
has now won 7 of their last 8, and stands with a
7-3-0 record, good for first in the North Division.
