Belle
River, ON – It was another rough start for the
Mooretown Flags this week, as they were doubled
up by the Belle River Canadiens 6-3 Friday night
in Belle River.
Mooretown held the early lead as Jeff Schroeter
scored his 14th of the season on the powerplay
early in the first period.
But in
the second, Belle River would respond with two
back to back powerplay goals, as Nik Dobrich
tied it at 1-1, and Blake Jones put the
Canadiens in the lead three minutes later with
his powerplay goal.
Josh
Teschke would tie the game at 2-2 with a goal 27
seconds later, but 35 seconds after that Branden
Larocque would put the Canadiens back in front,
as Belle River took a 3-2 lead into the third
period.
Chris
DiNatale would establish a two goal game for the
Canadiens 27 seconds into the third period, but
Adam Hayes would reply for Mooretown on the
powerplay to cut the lead back down to one.
But
despite 15 shots in the period, Mooretown could
not find the tying goal. Chris DiNatale would
score twice at the end of the period to get
Belle River the 6-3 victory.
Andrew
Ganter made 29 saves in the loss, as Mooretown
was outshot 35-31.
Mooretown is back in action on Saturday as they
host the Blenheim Blades.
