Wallaceburg, ON – With a 6-5 loss to Wallaceburg
Wednesday night, the Mooretown Flags have one
victory in their last six games.
Mooretown held the lead twice, but both times
would give up multiple goals to the Lakers on
route to their loss.
Jeff
Schroeter opened the scored for the Flags three
minutes into the game, but 1:20 later, Kyle
Jacobson would tie it for the Lakers. Scott
Lubbers would then find the go ahead goal, as
Wallaceburg needed only three minutes to take
the lead. Schroeter would get his second of the
period to tie the game back up at 2-2 after one
period.
In the
second the Flags kept the momentum, as Caden
Fleming scored two minutes into the period. 1:25
later Travis Mullen would score the Flags third
straight goal with a powerplay goal to give
Mooretown the 4-2 lead.
But
Wallaceburg would go on their own run of goals,
starting with Norm Leger who scored a minute
after Mooretown to cut the lead in half. Lubbers
would get his second of the game on the
powerplay to tie it at 4-4, and Leger would cap
off the period with his second of the game, as
Wallaceburg retakes the lead.
In the
third, Leger would keep it going for the Lakers,
scoring his third of the game on the powerplay
to put the Lakers up 6-4. Fleming would add one
more for Mooretown on the powerplay, his second
of the game, but the Flags could not find the
equalizer.
Seth
Hellinga made 33 saves in the loss for the
Flags.
With
the loss the Flags fall back into second place,
their first time out of first in over a month.
The
Flags have a busy week, travelling to Alvinston
on Friday, and returning home on Saturday to
take on Wheatley.
