andrew Brethauer November 23rd, 2011

Wallaceburg, ON – With a 6-5 loss to Wallaceburg Wednesday night, the Mooretown Flags have one victory in their last six games.

Mooretown held the lead twice, but both times would give up multiple goals to the Lakers on route to their loss.

Jeff Schroeter opened the scored for the Flags three minutes into the game, but 1:20 later, Kyle Jacobson would tie it for the Lakers. Scott Lubbers would then find the go ahead goal, as Wallaceburg needed only three minutes to take the lead. Schroeter would get his second of the period to tie the game back up at 2-2 after one period.

In the second the Flags kept the momentum, as Caden Fleming scored two minutes into the period. 1:25 later Travis Mullen would score the Flags third straight goal with a powerplay goal to give Mooretown the 4-2 lead.

But Wallaceburg would go on their own run of goals, starting with Norm Leger who scored a minute after Mooretown to cut the lead in half. Lubbers would get his second of the game on the powerplay to tie it at 4-4, and Leger would cap off the period with his second of the game, as Wallaceburg retakes the lead.

In the third, Leger would keep it going for the Lakers, scoring his third of the game on the powerplay to put the Lakers up 6-4. Fleming would add one more for Mooretown on the powerplay, his second of the game, but the Flags could not find the equalizer.

Seth Hellinga made 33 saves in the loss for the Flags.

With the loss the Flags fall back into second place, their first time out of first in over a month.

The Flags have a busy week, travelling to Alvinston on Friday, and returning home on Saturday to take on Wheatley.
