Mooretown, ON – The top two teams in each
division faced off Saturday night, as the Essex
73's travelled to Mooretown and picked up a 6-3
victory on the Flags.
Essex
opened the scoring in the first as Colin DeLaet
score the periods only goal to give Essex the
1-0 lead.
In the
second, Dan Bacon would score a minute into the
period to extend the lead to two goals, while
Brian Hamlin would make it a three goal lead
with his powerplay goal
But
Mooretown would cut into the lead, as Josh
Teschke scored a minute after Essex to make it a
3-1 game. Michael Gray would make it a 3-2 game
near the end of the period, scoring on the
powerplay.
Essex
would go back up by two again, as Brett Beattie
made it 4-2 to start the third period. After
Gray made it 4-3 with his second goal of the
game, the 73's would score twice more in two
minutes, as Dylan Solecki and Matthew Hebert
each scored to finish the scoring.
Andrew
Ganter made 39 saves in the loss, while Jeff
Schroeter picked up three assists on the night.
Mooretown is back in action on Wednesday against
the Wallaceburg Lakers.
