Bleinheim; The Blenheim Blades moved into first
place in the Jr C Hockey League North
Division sending Mooretown into second after
defeating the Flags 6 - 1 Sunday night.
Blenheim scored 3 unanswered goals in the first
period, two of the goals were on power plays.
In the second the Blades added a pair before
Caden Fleming was awarded a penalty shot that
beat Blades' netminder Dylan Vanderpol to give
the Flags only goal in the game. In the
third Blenheim scored the final goal on a power
play. Goal scorers for Blenheim were
Jordan Regier, Justin Rossignol, Thomas Innes,
Nathan Puchnatyj, Trevor Sparks and John
McKillop.
The
Blades went 3 for 9 on the power play, Flags
wend 0 for 4. Penalties were the enemy for
Mooretown as they served a total of 65 minutes
on 17 infractions. Blenheim took 25
minutes on 8 infractions. Andrew Ganter
took the loss making 33 saves, Vanderpol earrned
the win with 25 saves.
The
Flags go back on the road for their 5th
consecutive road game as they head to Essex on
Tuesday Jan 10. The team is back home on
Saturday Jan 14 for a rematch against Blenheim.
Saturdays game time is at 7:30 at the Moore
Sports Complex.
