Mooretown, ON – The Mooretown Flags allowed
three goals before they could answer back with
two in the third, but they would fall short in a
3-2 loss to Belle River Wednesday night in
Junior C Hockey.
Flags
goalie Andrew Ganter faced a ton of rubber in
the game, stopping 42 of the 45 shots the
Canadiens got to the net, while the Flags could
only get 28 shots through.
Nik
Dobrich opened the scoring with the only goal in
the first period, scoring midway through the
period for the 1-0 Canadians lead.
The
Canadians would score a pair of goals in the
second period, as Jason Koumaris made it a two
score game midway through the second, and Chris
DiNatale added the third goal with 36 seconds
remaining in the period.
In the
third, Mooretown faced heavy shots, but still
managed to climb back into the game. Kurtis
Glowa scored midway through the third to make it
a 3-1 game, while Jeff Sit added the second
Flags goal with five minutes remaining in the
period. Mooretown would not be able to find the
equalizer and came up just short in the 3-2
loss.
With
the loss the Flags miss the chance to get back
into first place in the North Division and now
sit a single point behind Blenheim. The Flags
will next head to Dresden for a Friday game on
January 20th.
