Despite
outshooting Alvinston 42-33, the Mooretown Flags dropped
game one of their best of seven series, as the Flyers
topped the Flags 4-2.
Much like in the regular season the Flyers got scoring
from their usual suspects as Chris Edwards scored the
lone goal on the powerplay with a minute and a half left
in the first period. He would get his second of the
playoffs two minutes into the second period as the
Flyers jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
Dan Warner would make it 3-0 with his late third period
goal, but the Flags would get a chance on the powerplay
and as Alex Dawson scored with nine seconds left in the
second period to make it a 3-1 game.
Mooretown would cut the lead to one as Caden Fleming
scored two minutes into the third to make it 3-2. But
despite an empty net the Flags couldn’t get the
equalizer. Brock Pinnell would seal the win for the
Flyers with an empty net goal as the Flyers take game
one 4-2.
Jordan Gladwish made 29 saves in the loss, while Brandon
Campbell made 40 saves in the win.
Game two goes Sunday in Alvinston.
