The
Mooretown Flags suffered a 5 - 4 loss at home in a
shootout against Alvinston on Saturday.
In this see
saw game the Flags took an early lead in the first on a
goal by Mike Burns. Action continuted and with
just :03 seconds left on the clock Dan Warner scored a
powerplay goal for Alvinston to tie things up heading
into the second.
Dan Warner scored his second goal just over a minute
into the second period to give Alvinston the lead for
the first time. Mike Burns capitalized on two
powerplays and scored 2 goals midway into the period to
tie then regain the lead. Less than a minute later
Chris Edwards tied the game yet again and the score was
tied heading into the third.
In the third
period Alvinston scored their second powerplay goal of
the night to take the 4 - 3 lead. Midway into the
final period Jake Currie scored an unassisted goal to
tie things up. Action went back and forth as the
final buzzer sounded sending the game into overtime.
Overtime produced no winner and the game went to a
shootout where Alvinston outshot Mooretown 3 - 1.
Mooretown
outshot Alvinston 50 - 31. Brandon Campbell was
outstanding in net to earned the win for the Flyers.
Colton James took the Overtime Loss. James
replaced Jordan Gladwish after Gladwish received a game
misconduct in the third period for fighting.
Mooretown
went 2 for 6 on the powerplay, Alvinston went 2 for 5.
Next up, the
Flags are on the road to Dresden on Friday Oct 1, then
back home the next night hosting Wheatly. Both
games begin at 7:30 pm. |
