The
Mooretown Flags played two games this weekend and got
their first win of the season on Saturday night.
Unfortunately the Flags suffered a 5-1 loss to the
Dresden Kings on Friday before their 5-4 victory on
Saturday against the Wheatley Sharks.
Mooretown at Dresden Kings
October 1, 2010
The Kings started the Flags weekend with five straight
goals before the Flags could answer late in the third.
Cody McPhail of the Kings recorded a hat trick, with a
goal in each period, while Dylan Metz and Jeremy
Griffore added the other two goals for Dresden. James
Shelton also had three assists, each one coming on a
McPhail goal. Mooretown scored with just under two
minutes remaining, as Ryan Hunt scored his second of the
year and spoiled the shutout for Dresden.
Mooretown vs Wheatley Sharks
In the second game of the weekend, it would be a
Mooretown Flag getting the hat trick as Jason Teschke
scored three goals, one per period, in Mooretown’s 5-4
over Wheatley.
Josh
Teschke would score as well, and get an assist on two of
his brother’s goals, giving the Teschke brothers six
points on the night. Wheatley kept in the game, with
goals by Trevor Grieve, shorthanded in the first, and
Anthony Stankiewicz in the second. Stankiewicz would add
a second goal in the middle of the third, and two
minutes later Andy Stevenson would tie the game.
Mooretown would find their first win in the hands of
Cody Hardman, as he would get the game winner with under
five minutes to go.
Goaltender
Colton James, who was the net minder for Mooretown’s
overtime loss to Essex earned the win, and has got all
of Mooretown points so far this season.
The win
brings Mooretown to 1-2-1 on the season. They play
another back to back weekend coming up, with games at
Alvinston and home to Essex. |
