The
Mooretown Flags found scoring life in the third period
of their game against Blenheim, but it couldn’t carry
over into overtime, as the Flag fall to the Blades 5-4.
Both
teams skated to no scoring in the first period, as
Mooretown put 19 pucks on net, but couldn’t put it
passed the Blade’s Brandon Cowell.
In the
second, Tyler Oglan opened the scoring with a powerplay
goal to put Blenheim up 1-0. Mooretown again put 18
pucks on net for a two period total of 37, but couldn’t
get anything past Cowell.
Finally
in the third, Travis Mullen got a shot past, knotting
the game at one each. Blenheim would retake the lead
with a goal by Thomas Innes. But the Teschke brothers
would give the Flags their first lead of the season, as
Jason Teschke scored to tie, and thirty nine seconds
later, Josh Teschke added a powerplay goal for the lead.
But Blenheim would get a powerplay goal as well, as
Oglan would add his second of the game. Innes would
score a shorthanded goal to put Blenheim ahead once
again. But Josh Teschke would add his second of the game
late on the powerplay to send the game into overtime.
Unfortunately for the flags, overtime took only
thirty-one seconds, as Josh VanDusen put a puck past
Jordan Gladwish for the victory.
Gladwish
made 35 saves on 40 shots, while Mooretown as a team put
47 shots on net.
Mooretown
still sits in second in the North Division and will take
on first place Wallaceburg on Monday, November 29th. |
