Alvinston
scored three goals late in the third period, but it
wasn’t enough to top Mooretown’s earlier lead in a 6-5
victory for the Flags Sunday night.
Alvinston
had a 1-0 lead after Chris Edwards scored on the power
play for the Flyers. But Josh Teschke would tie things
up two minutes later for the Flags, and Duncan MacSorley
would put the Flags up by one at the end of the first.
Mooretown
would continue the pressure in the second, as Mike Burns
would score a pair of goals to gives the Flags a 4-1
lead heading into the third period. Mooretown would
score their fifth in a row, as MacSorley would get his
second of the game 1:11 into the third period. Alvinston
would respond with a goal from Dan Warner to end the
goal streak. Jason Teschke would add his twentieth goal
of the season on the power play to restore the four goal
lead.
From
there Alvinston would take over, as Chris Edwards would
get his second of the game for the Flyers, while Kyle
Brothers would pick up two of his own, one on the power
play, to bring the Flyers to within one.
The
Flyers could not knot things up, and with the victory
the Flags move two points ahead of Alvinston in the
North Division.
Chris
Edwards added two assists as well to his two goals for a
four point night, while Brothers added an assist for a
three point game. Josh Teschke had two assists for
Mooretown to have three points on the night while five
other players for the Flags had two points.
Jordan
Gladwish stopped 30 of 35 shots for the Flags for his
sixth win of the season, while Brandon Campbell stopped
40 of 46 shots in the loss.
