Shorthanded goals leads to Flags Loss

Thomas
Innes scored his second of the game shorthanded for
Blenheim in a 6-5 victory over the Mooretown Flags. The
goal came late in the third when the game was tied 5-5,
and would ultimately be the game winner.
Mooretown
had a 3-1 lead after the first, as Jason Teschke opened
the scoring 1:41 into the first period. Blenheim would
reply a minute later with a goal by Tyler Oglan, but
Mooretown would go ahead again twenty-two seconds later
with a goal from Jake Currie. Caden Flemming would add a
power play goal late in the third to put the Flags up by
two.
The
second period was al Blenheim, as Innes would get his
first of the game to bring the game back to within one.
Taylor Phillips would score short handed at 14:51 to tie
the game for the Blades. Three minutes later, Erik
Sereda gave Blenheim their first lead of the game, and
the Blades took a 4-3 lead into the third period.
Jason
Teschke would add his second of the game to re-tie
things at four to start the third, but the blades would
retake the lead on a goal by Brendon Anger. Teschke
would get the hat-trick in the third to tie things back
up again on the power play, but twenty four seconds
later, Innes would score to give the Blades the 6-5
victory.
Innes had
two goals and two assists on the night for Blenheim,
while Colton James made the start for Mooretown and
recorded 36 of 42 saves in the loss.
