Despite
a late game rally, the Mooretown Flags came up just
short in their game two match up with the Belle River
Canadiens, and now find themselves down 2-0 in their
series after a 4-3 loss Wednesday night.
Belle River
took the early advantage in a fight filled first period,
as Nik Dobrich scored the first two goals of the game,
with his second coming on the powerplay to give the
Canadiens a 2-0 lead. Branden Larocque would make it 3-0
for the Canadiens after the end of the first. The end of
the first also saw seven game misconducts for fighting,
with Flags goalie Jordan Gladwish being one of the Flags
tossed from the game.
In the second
period Josh Teschke got the Flags on the board with his
7th of the playoffs. But just under a minute later Dylan
Impens would restore the three goal lead for the
Canadiens. Mooretown would respond to the goal as Mike
Burns made it 4-3 with his late second period goalie.

In the third
Josh Teschke got on the board again for the Flags just
18 seconds into the period to bring Mooretown to within
one. But despite outshooting the Canadiens in the third,
the Flags could not find the equalizer, and fell 4-3.
The Flags were
heavily outshot 57-35, with Gladwish making 14 saves on
17 shots in his period of work, while Colton James made
39 saves on 40 shots in his two periods of work.
Mooretown, now
down 2-0, will travel to Belle River for game three and
back to Mooretown for game four on March 4th and 5th.
