Flags stay alive with overtime
victory
The
Mooretown Flags season came to an end after an 8-4 loss
to the Belle River Canadiens in game five of their
second round series.
Belle River started the game
off quickly with a powerplay goal by Nik Dobrich at 1:47
into the first. Four minutes later Dobrich would add his
second powerplay goal of the game to put the Canadiens
up 2-0. Dobrich would get in on the third goal of the
period for the Canadiens, setting up Scott Chauvin to
make it 3-0 for the Canadiens. Mooretown would finally
get on the board when Adam Little score on the powerplay
to make it 3-1 after the first period.
In the second, Belle River
kept the pressure on the Flags, and the goals kept
coming. Doonovan Plummer scored thirty-six seconds into
the period to make it 4-1, and Chauvin got his second of
the game to make it 5-1 for the Canadiens. Jason Teschke
would get his 8th of the playoffs, but under a minute
later Rovert Ienna would get the goal back and put Belle
River back up 6-2. Ryan Hunt would get a shorthanded
goal for the Flags to cut the lead in half, but Dobrich
would score his third powerplay goal of the game to put
the Canadiens up 7-2 after the second.
In the third Brett Hickey
would make it 8-2 for. With seconds remaining Derek
D'Andrea would score the final goal of the season for
the flags as they fall 8-4 to Belle River.
With the loss the Flags are
eliminated from the playoffs, 4-1 in their best of seven
series. |
