The Mooretown Flags put in three goals per period for a 9-2 thumping of the
Kingsville Comets Saturday night, outshooting their
opponents 55-27.
In the first period it
was all Mooretown as they pounded 20 shots on net in the
first alone. Tyler Prong got it started for the Flags
netting his 2nd of the year, while Kurtis Glowa scored
four minutes later to make it a 2-0 game. Jason Teschke
got his 29st of the season late in the period to make it
3-0 after the first.
The second period
looked much the same, as the Flags put in another three
goals on twenty shots. Even the majority of the goal
scorers stayed the same as Glowa got his second of the
net, followed up by Teschke's second to make it 5-0.
Derek D'Andrea made it 6-0 for the Flags on the
powerplay, as Mooretown shuts down the Comets for a
second period.
Kingsville finally
broke the shutout in the third, as Paul Bondy scored on
the powerplay to make it 6-1. But twenty-two seconds
later, Caden Fleming made it 7-1. But Kingsville would
still add another, this time shorthanded, as Tyler Kirby
made it a 7-2 game. But the Flags were not done as the
Teschke brothers would each add goals, Jason getting his
third of the night, to finish the nine goal game.
Jordan Gladwish stopped
25 of 27 shots for his 9th win of the season. With the
win, the Flags tie the Alvinston Flyers in points at 30,
but still have two games to make up. They will take on
Blenheim on Sunday, January 9th.
