The Mooretown
Flags came away with a big win Wednesday night, giving
Wallaceburg only their third home loss of the year with
a 7-6 victory.
Mooretown took
control earlier as Adam Little scored on the powerplay
to make it 1-0 for the Flags. They would get a second
powerplay goal, tis time from Duncan MacSorley to make
it 2-0. Kurtis Glowa would give the Flags a 3-0 lead
with his late third period goal, but the Lakers would
finally get on the board as Brendon Merritt scored on
the powerplay to make it 3-1 after one.
In the second,
the Lakers didn't waste time getting back into the game.
Rob Pollock made it 3-2, and a minute twenty-seven
later, Tyler Lewis would erase the Flags three goal
lead, as he tied it for the Lakers. But under a minute
later, Mike Burns would put the Flags back in front 4-3.
In the second half of the period, the Lakers would see
their first lead, as Norm Leger and Tyson Isaac each
scored powerplay goals to give the Lakers a 5-4 lead at
the end of the second.
Though
Mooretown let the lead slip, it didn't take long to get
it back. Jason Teschke would tie the game forty seconds
into the period, but also give the Flags the lead with
his second of the game three minutes later. Brother Josh
Teschke would score the third of the period to put the
Flags up by two. Wallaceburg would get one back as Tyler
Lewis got his second of the game midway through the
period, but the Lakers couldn't find one more to tie it
up.
With the
victory Mooretown has a four point lead on Alvinston for
second place in the North Division. Their next match up
is Friday, January 21st against Dresden.
