The Mooretown
Flags came away with their second win in two nights,
with 4-3 victory over the Dresden Jr. Kings. Much like
their game against Belle River, the Flags found
themselves down, only to come back for the victory.
Dresden owned
the first half of the game, taking a lead on the Flags.
Dylan Mertz opened the scoring on the powerplay at 15:48
of the first to give Dresden a 1-0 lead. Cam Ross would
make it 2-0 with his 3rd of the season, giving the Kings
the early two goal lead going into the second.
In the second,
Jim Rouse would make it 3-0, as he scored his 12th of
the season, giving Dresden a solid lead heading into the
second half of the game. Unfortunately for Dresden,
Mooretown took control in the second half of the game,
as Alex Dawson scored on the powerplay to start to cut
into the lead. Duncan MacSorley would also get a
powerplay goal to make it a one goal game heading into
the third.
It wouldn't
take Mooretown long in the third to tie the game, as
MacSorley got his second of the night at the three
minute mark to even things up. Both teams would look for
that go ahead goal, and when it finally came, it erased
the three goal lead Dresden had, and put the W in the
the Flags column, as Donny Bowing score with a minute
and a half remaining to give the Flags a 4-3 victory.
Jordan
Gladwish made 33 saves for the win, while Brent Paxton
made 42 saves in the loss. With the win, Mooretown pulls
two points ahead of Alvinston for second place in the
North Division. Dresden failed to pick up two points for
the second straight night, and now find themselves only
one point up on Blenheim with two games ahead of them.
Mooretown next
takes on Wallaceburg on Wednesday, January 19th.
