Burns Hat-trick puts
Mooretown over Wheatley
sarniasports.com DECEMBER 4, 2010
Mike Burn’s scored his third of the
game with 2:29 left in the third, to give the Mooretown
Flags a 5-4 victory over the Wheatley Sharks. Burns, who
now has 21 goals on the season, found the net twice in
the second period along with his game winning goal for
the hat-trick.
Adam Little started the scoring for
the Flags in the first, but the Sharks were able to tie
things up with seconds left in the period. After Burn’s
first gaol, Derek D’Andrea would put in the Flags second
of the period to give them a two goal, 3-1 lead. But
Wheatley would score short handed, to cut the lead to
one, but Burns answered on the short hand with seconds
remaining to restore the two goal lead.
Wheatley would bring it back to a one
goal lead 1:09 into the third, and would eventually tie
the game late in the third, erasing the two goal lead,
until Burns put it passed Marc Tremblay for the victory.
With the victory, the Flags improve
to 12-10-2, staying three points ahead of Alvinston for
second place in the North Division. The Flags will take
on Blenheim Sunday, December 5th in Blenheim.
