In their last
game of 2010, the Mooretown Flags fell short to the
Wheatley Sharks 4-3 Monday night in Wheatley.
Wheatley
jumped out to an early lead, as David Bingeman scored
unassisted twenty-four seconds into the game. Wheatley
would then add a late period goal on the powerplay as
Andy Stevenson made it 2-0 for the Sharks. But
twenty-six seconds after that goal, Caden Fleming would
make it a one goal game heading into the second.
Neither team
would find the net early in the second. Mooretown would
eventually tie the game at two when Aaron Schieman
scored his own unassisted goal to square up the game.
But in the
third, Wheatley would jump out to another two goal lead.
Stevenson would score his second of the game 4:55 into
the first to give the Sharks their lead back. Ten
minutes later, Jordan Carnevale would make it a two goal
lead. But again, thirty-two seconds later Mooretown
would make it a one goal game, as Duncan MacSorley
scored. But the Flags would run out of time for the
comeback as they fall 4-3.
Colton James
made 33 of 37 saves in the game in the loss. The Flags
are now off till the new year when they will return back
to action on Tuesday, January 4th against Essex.
