playoff action the Mooretown Flags takes a 2 - 1 lead in
the series after taking a 5 - 2 win over Dresden last
night in Mooretown.

McKinnon opened the scoring for the Flags at 2:35 in the
first period assisted by Greg Babcock. Dresden
answered back at the 5:22 mark with Joe Deboer scoring
from Ryan Cook. Action continued and in the final
minute Brett Thompson scored a powerplay goal assisted
by Travis Mullen to put the Flags up 2 - 1 heading into
the second.
Midway in the second Mooretown was a
player short and Dresden tied things up as Justin
Rossignol scored on the powerplay with Jordan Shine and
Drew Poissant assisting. As the period was drawing
to a close and with Mooretown fighting off another
penalty Cody Stout picked one off the blue line and took
it in to score what turned out to be the game winner
shorthanded and unassisted. Score after two 3 - 2
for the Flags.
Third period action saw Brett Thompson
scoring late at 17:23 unassisted and in the final
minute with Dresden's net empty for the extra attacker
Travis Harper scored into the big pocket to end the
game.

Mooretown penalty killing was a major
factor as Dresden had a total of 12 powerplay
opportunities and scored on just one. Mooretown
went 1 for 6 on powerplays.
Mooretown shots on net count was 33, Dresden recorded
37.
Jordan Gladwish earned the win for the
Flags with a total of 35 saves, Eric Steinman took the
loss with 28 saves.
The two teams are back in action on
Friday night in Dresden for game 4, then return to
Mooretown on Saturday for game 5. Both games begin
at 7:30 pm.
