Coaches’ Corner with Head
Coach Bruce Aberhart
November 7, 2009
Last weekend was
a tale of Jekyll and Hyde as we split two
games with our North Division Rivals the
Alvinston Flyers. Hyde showed up on Friday
night on the road as we dropped a 6 – 3
decision to Alvinston. We lacked the jump
and momentum, and Alvinston took advantage
of the situation in the second period. We
turned it around in the third period to set
the stage for Saturday Night. Cody Stout
scored a goal and an assist, while Brett
Thompson, Travis Harper scored the other
markers. Other assists went to Chris
Hoffman, Brent Sauve, and Spencer Lightfoot.
Saturday night our guys bounced back with a
9 – 3 win over the Flyers. The coaching
staff was very happy to see our guys rebound
and play so well on Saturday night. Our
players never let the Flyers into the game.
We played well defensively and offensively,
we shut them down in the neutral zone and
eliminated the Flyers’ scoring chances. When
our guys play like this it sure is a
pleasure to |
|
|
watch.
The way we played is the way we need to come out and
play. Sometimes it is not achievable but it should be
our team’s goal to play well defensively and
offensively, shut down the opposition in the neutral
zone and eliminate the opponent’s scoring chances.
William Brandon, Donny Bowling and Cody Stout each
netted 2 goals. Other goals were scored by Jason Teschke,
Jordan Pennesi and Brett Thompson. Assisted on the goals
were Adam Little, Brent Sauve and Jason Teschke with 2
assists each, Darby McKinnon, Ray martin, Mike Burns,
Travis Harper, William Brandon, Ryan Hunt and Spencer
Lightfoot. Our Reid Rankin made 23 to earn the win.
Tonight
we host the Wheatley Sharks. Once again it should be a
highly contested game. Hopefully our guys will carry
over the momentum over from last Saturday night into
tonight’s game. |
