The
Sarnia PeeWee Pacers had 3
wins and 1 loss in the
recent Herb Lea tournament
which put them in a three
way tie for a trip to the
championship game.
Unfortunately, the Pacers
had lost to the wrong team
and were denied their chance
at the gold.
Game one
of the tournament saw the
Pacers face Brampton in a
late-night contest falling
on the final day of school.
With the boys excited to
start holidays and their
home tournament, excitement
led to a constant brigade to
the penalty box. Despite a
great deal of penalty
killing practice the Pacers
came away with a 9-4
victory. Goals were
provided by Jack Dunn with
3, 2 to each of Ethan Dupont
and Brett Barnes and singles
to Dylan Lavoie and Kyle
Vince. Barnes also chipped
in with 2 assists and Cody
Haas had a solid game in
net.
Game two
the next afternoon was
against the eventual
tournament champs from Six
Nations. The Pacers weren’t
on their game and allowed a
number of uncontested goals
in the first period to fall
by a final score of 7-3.
Barnes had 2 and Logan Scott
one in the loss.
Later
that night the Pacers faced
an aggressive but skill
deficient team from
Cambridge and were able to
play a smart game on route
to a 13-0 victory. Haas had
the shutout for the Pacers
with the following players
hitting the goal column on
the scoresheet: Hunter
Taylor and Jacob Caughlin
with hat-tricks, Griffin
Dillabough and Scott with 2
each and singles to Dunn,
Lavoie and Kaden Fulcher.
Multiple helpers went to
Barnes with 4, Dunn and
Scott with 3 and Brennan
McKegan with a pair.
In their
final game on Sunday the
Pacers faced a talented
squad from Newmarket and put
together their best effort
of the tourney on route to a
4-2 victory. The Pacers had
many, many chances to pull
away in the game but the
goal posts and defending
goalie were on their game.
Brayden Bell was solid in
net and goals came from
Patrick Wright, Fulcher,
Bert Thorpe and Dillabough.
Fulcher and Dunn also added
2 assists in the win.
