The Sarnia PeeWee Pacers
opened their Zone 7 regular
season schedule with four
games last week. The opening
day of play saw the Pacers
host the Windsor Warlocks
for a pair of games at the
Clearwater arena.
In Game 1 the Pacers would
struggle to stay out of the
penalty box and as a result
would fall by a score of 7-4
to the visiting Warlocks.
Hitting the preferential
area of the scoresheet were
Jacob Caughlin, Bert Thorpe,
Dylan Lavoie and Dawson
Vautour all with single
goals. Assists went to
Lavoie with a pair and
Griffin Dillabough with a
single. Cody Haas went the
distance in net.
Game 2 later that day would
be a timekeeper’s worst
nightmare with teams
amassing ninety minutes in
penalties and the game being
shortened due to inclement
weather. The Pacers would
pull out the victory is this
one by a final score of 5-4
with Hunter Taylor scoring
late in the final period to
secure the victory. Cody
Haas was solid in net to
earn the victory and other
goal scorers for Sarnia were
Brett Barnes with two and
singles to Logan Scott and
Ethan Dupont. Jack Dunn
chipped in with 3 assists
and singles went to Patrick
Wright and Logan Scott.
Two days later the Pacers
traveled to London to battle
the Blue Devils and played a
great team game to come away
with a 6-4 road victory.
Scoring for the Sarnia squad
was provided by 6 different
players with Dunn,
Dillabough, Barnes, Kyle
Vince, Vautour and Taylor
all picking up singles.
Assisting on these markers
were Dunn with 4 and singles
to Barnes, Dupont and
Scott. Haas took the win in
net and put in his best
performance of the young
season.
For the Pacers next
challenge they would travel
to Wallaceburg to battle the
Griffins and unfortunately
many of the Sarnia players
weren’t ready to compete on
this night. The hometown
Griffins would jump out to
leads of 2-0 after one
period, 5-3 after two and
hold on to defeat the Pacers
by a final of 8-7. Scoring
for the Pacers was provided
by Dunn with 3, Vince with 2
and singles to Caughlin and
Scott. Assisting on these
goals were Nolan Coats with
a pair and singles to
Vautour, Scott, Wright and
goalie Brayden Bell. Bell
and Haas split the
goaltending duties in this
game. |
