The Sarnia Bantam Pacers opened their season
at home with a full house in a game against the Wallaceburg Griffins.
The play was back and forth with both teams battling hard for the win.
Sarnia opened up the scoring in the first period on a goal from Ryan
Devine unassisted. Another goal for the Pacers in the first by Alex
Mayhead with Michaeline Falla and Devine getting the assists.
Wallaceburg also scored in the first period.
Wallaceburg would score the only goal of the second with the period
ending in a 2-2 tie. Both teams would battle in the third. Ryan Devine
scored his second of the game assisted by Sam McCormack and Callahan
Doughty. Wallaceburg would respond with a goal of their own. With a
penalty taken late in the game by the home team, Sarnia had to fight off
the Griffins in their attempt to go ahead. Strong Penalty killing by
Ryleigh Taylor, Cory Burr, Alex Mayhead and Kraig Durco helped
the game end in a 3-3 tie. Reece
Landeryou was in the net for Sarnia making some big saves.
Head Coach Kerry Adams described the game as "an excellent game on
defence and hard fought game offensively with lots of chances. It was a
real feeling out game for us and we showed we are willing to compete
with larger teams." Good game Pacers!!
Next game will be at home against Windsor at the Clearwater arena next
