Sarnia Jr B Pacers vs Niagara

The Sarnia Jr B Pacers hosted the Niagara Thunderhawks on Sunday afternoon and took a 9 - 7 loss in a close race.  After the first period of play Sarnia led 4 - 3.  Niagara scored the first goal of the game then Sarnia went on and scored 4 consecutive goals.  Niagara then added a final two to end the period.  Scoring for Sarnia were Jimmy Purves, Trevor Yealy, Kevin Conroy and Stevee General.  Bryson Filipeti, Mike White and Chad Leadingfox scored for the Thunderhawks.

 

In the second Jimmy Purves and Dan Charlton added singles and were answered back when Niagara scored three goals to tie things up 6 - 6 at the end of the second.  George Pineda added the single and Steven Murphy scored two for Niagara.

In the final period Aaron Schieman scored to take the lead for the Pacers but Niagara pushed and scored three for the win.  First goal was an unasssited goal by David Evert.  Steven Murphy added his third goal of the day on a shorthanded goal and the final goal was into the empty net by David Evert.

In powerplay opportunities Niagara scored 1 in 7, Sarnia went 0 for 5.  Justin Matthews went the distance in net taking the loss.  Matthews made a total of 39 saves.  Julian Fauzey earned the win with 31 saves.

 

Sarnia is now 4 wins and 8 losses for the season and is sitting in third place in the standings after Wallaceburg.

Next up the team travels to
Ohsweken on Friday May 28th to take on the Sourth West division leaders Six Nations who are undefeated (10 - 0) this season.
