Sarnia Legionnaires scoring star Jesse Drydak reached a milestone last week that no one seems to have noticed.

The 19-year-old right-winger scored the 50th goal of his junior career Sept. 16 in a game against the Strathroy Rockets. Before anyone realized he'd reached that plateau, the Camlachie resident notched his 51st in a contest against St. Thomas.

Drydak, who was born in Petrolia, also has 47 career assists, giving him a total of 98 points in 102 games, going back to the 2008/09 campaign. Needless to say, his next two points will bring him up to the century mark.

In his rookie campaign, Drydak notched 16 goals to help the Legionnaires win the Western Jr. 'B' championship. Last year, he led the club in scoring, finding the back of the net 32 times.

Cicchini still leads

The career scoring leader among active Legionnaires is Tyler Cicchini, who has 111 points to his credit, including 54 goals and 57 helpers.

Another skater expected to crash through the 100-point barrier shortly is Chase Clark, who has 94 behind his name, including 45 goals.

All-time records

The Western Jr. 'B' record book lists Sarnia's all-time franchise career points leader as Dominik Rozman, who collected 183 between the years 2000 and 2004. He also has the most career Jr. 'B' goals for a Sarnia player, with 91.

Don Gordon is actually the all-time Legionnaire career scoring leader, with more than 120 goals to his credit. But close to 50 of those were racked up during the 1969 season, when the Legionnaires were playing Tier II Jr. 'A' hockey. It's debatable whether Tier II Jr. 'A' is any better than Jr. 'B' but, for official purposes, Rozman has the franchise record.

Here are other Sarnia Jr. 'B' all-time scoring marks:

  • Most points in a season, 108 by Phil Esposito, who played with the Legionnaires in 1961.

  • Most assists in a season, 68, by Steve Stefanko, who set that milestone while playing with the 1968 Sutherland Cup champion Legionnaires.

  • Most goals in a single season, 72, by Bill Lochead, who set the mark in 1971. That is still an all-time Ontario Jr. 'B' record.

  • Most career assists, 116, by Mike Flemming, who played from 1998 to 2002.
