On Friday October 29
at the Clearwater Arena the Jr. Sting Minor Atom
MD defeated the London Bandits in a lopsided
affair, 13 – 1.
The Bandits had the
first scoring chance right off the drop of the
puck but Stevie Schaefer stoned the London
player on a break-away. Moments later Collin
Zimmer skated in and successfully deked the
Bandits net-minder for his first of five goals.
The rest of the game was played mostly in the
London end with the odd scoring chance for the
Bandits. Cameron Stevens played the 2nd
half of the game in the Sarnia goal and again
was very strong.
Other goal scorers
were Zac Moore with two, Nathan Oliphant with a
pair, Zander Campbell with two, Ian Bailey with
one and Mathew Waun with one. Assists were
awarded to Nathan Oliphant with 2, Logan
Johnston, Collin Zimmer with 2, Zac Moore with
2, Gavin Lauzon, Ian Bailey with 2, Ryan Eyre,
Beynon Jonas, and Evan Trigatti with 2.
The defense of
Beynon Jonas, Thomas Cardinal, Kaz Gudelis,
Gavin Lauzon, Logan Johnston and Damon Skinn-Wai
were especially strong holding the puck in the
visitors end.
The Bandits tallied
their lone marker with 45 seconds to play in the
third on a scramble in front of the net.
The Sting next play
on Friday November 5th at Clearwater
as the same Bandits team returns for a rematch.
