The Sarnia Major Atom Sting were
once again involved in 2 games this past weekend, picking up
a tie and a loss.
On Saturday, the Sting were
involved in a game with the Oakridge Aeros in which they
carried the lead for most of the game, but the Aeros scored
a late 3rd period goal and the game ended in a 6
– 6 tie. Scoring for the Sting in this game was Devin
Devooght with 2 goals, Matthew Torti, Jake Vince, Jack Smith
and Justin Houle all adding singles. Austin Coutts, Curtis
Marks, Mackenzie Caley and Jordan Hurtubise all chipped in
with assists.
The Sting were back on the ice
on Sunday to square off with the Hamilton Reps. The Sting
came out strong in this game, taking a 1st period
lead on a goal by Devin Devooght (assist Jack Smith). After
Hamilton scored to tie the game, Jack Smith scored on the
power play (assist Devin Devooght, Jake Vince) to restore
the Sarnia lead. In the 2nd period Hamilton
started to pressure the Sarnia zone and were rewarded with a
goal to tie the game at 2 going into the 3rd
period. In the 3rd period, both teams played
determined to win, but it was Hamilton who would score with
4 minutes remaining and the Sting were unable to answer.
Final score, Hamilton 3, Sarnia 2. |
