Victorious In
A 2-1 Battle
The East Lambton
Eagles soared into the Point to play the
Blackhawks in Lambton Middlesex League
action and the Point squeezed out a 2-1
victory.
The game started
with both teams playing defensively and both
teams not being able to conjure up any good
offensive strikes. Reinders made a big save
on a Eagles breakaway mid-way through the
period to keep it at 0-0. Scoring
opportunities were few but the Point did get
a close scoring chance at the buzzer but
couldn’t take the lead.
The second saw
the Point digging hard to get the first goal
but the Eagles defense was fighting hard.
Midway through the period, Kennedy set up
Hocking on the right side to beat an
unprepared goaltender to make it 1-0. This
seemed to spark the Hawks as Cunningham
skated the puck down to the East Lambton end
and made a cross-the crease pass but they
couldn’t score. Hocking got his second of
the period off a tip from a Kennedy pass
with an assist going to Davis to make it
2-0. Within 30 seconds, the Eagles
retaliated to make it 2-1 to make sure the
Hawks knew the game wasn’t over going into
the third.
The third period
saw both teams penalty kill in action. The
Eagles got a penalty early and the Hawks
pressured but couldn’t get it passed a hot
goalie. The Point got themselves into
penalty trouble shortly thereafter but
MacDonald dug in and kept the game at 2-1.
East Lambton tried to make one last push at
the end of the game by pulling the goalie
but couldn’t tie it.
The Blackhawks
are away for their next three games and not
returning home till Nov 7th where
they take on the Ilderton Jets @ 5pm.
