Lambton Shores vs Fort Erie Meteors
Showcase Tournament - St. Marys
The streak has been broken as Lambton Shores saw
their first win on the weekend
at the third annual
GOJHL Showcase Tournament.
They defeated the
Fort Erie Meteors 3 - 2 in a close match.
Fort Erie play in the Golden Horseshoe
Conference and prior to the game they were 0 - 9
- 1.
Lambton went up 2 - 1 in the first period with
Coy Kulich scoring first for the Preds just 1:23
into. Fort Erie answered back on a
powerplay goal just over 3 minutes later to even
the score. Action continued until 17:59
when Matt Rupert scored to regain the lead for
the Lambton Shores.
In
the second Fort Erie scored their second goal,
again on the powerplay to even things up.
Play would continue and the period ended with
both sides even with 2 apiece.
In the third period Thomas Flamminio took the
Meteors by surprised and landed one into the
just :15 seconds into the final period to give
the Predators the lead. Flamminio's goal
would remain the game winner as the Predators
held off the attack to take their first win of
the season.
Lambton Shores outshot the Meteors 53 - 32.
Chris Clark earned the win with 30 saves and
despite the loss Vincent Merante stood tall for
the Meteors with 50 saves. Both goalies
earned the MVP of the game.
Lambton Shores went 0 for 8 on powerplay
opportunities, Fort Erie went 2 for 5.
The
Predators are back in action when they return to
St. Mary's on Friday night and return home on
Saturday when they host LaSalle. Game time
at home is at 7:30 pm.
