Alvinston Flyers shut out Dresden Kings 2-0

The Alvinston
Flyers played the first of five season games
in Petrolia on Sunday, September 19th
vs. the Dresden Kings. Both teams traded
shots during the opening period, but strong
goal tending kept the score locked at zero.
With 6:30 left in the second period, the
Flyers took their first lead of the season.
Dan Warner scored on a quick pass from Chad
Rainsberry. Chris Edwards sealed the
victory with an unassisted goal at the 7:33
mark of the third period. Brandon Campbell
stopped all 40 of Dresden’s shots to notch
the Flyers’ first shut out of the season.
This was their second game of the season and
against Dresden as the Flyers opened their
season with game 1 in Dresden on Sept 17 and
lost 6 - 1.
The Flyers will see action in Watford on
September 24th at 8:30 p.m. vs.
Wheatley. They will also be playing in
Mooretown on Saturday, Sept. 25th
at 7:30 p.m.
Petrolia area players include Ryan and Greg
Zavitz, Chad Rainsberry, Nick Atkinson, Nick
Newman, Jake McPhail, Dan Warner, Kyle
Limb, Tyler Drope, Conner Thompson, Parker
