The Sarnia Legionnaires sent
an unprecedented
number of players to OHL camps
this fall.

Sarnia Legionnaires
No less than 11
members of the club were invited
to Jr. 'A' tryouts, and five
Legionnaires have already seen
action in the 'O.'
No other Jr. 'B'
club in the Western Ontario
Hockey Conference sent as many
players to Jr. 'A' camps.
Defenceman
Anthony Donati was a plus one as
the Plymouth Whalers opened
their season with a win over the
defending Memorial Cup champion
Windsor Spitfires and blueliner
Curtis Crombeen took a regular
shift in the first game played
by the Owen Sound Attack. Both
rearguards were key cogs in the
Legionnaires successful run to
the Western Jr. 'B' championship
last spring.
When the Sting
opened their regular season,
Tyler Peters, Craig Hottot and
Zack MacQueen, all veterans of
that Legionnaire championship
squad, were in the lineup.
Peters, who was clocked with the
fastest shot in the Greater
Ontario Hockey League last
winter, got his first OHL goal.
Legionnaires
captain Tyler Cicchini was
also invited to the Sting camp
this year, along with Andy Sokol,
Jesse Drydak and Tanner
Tomlinson.
Legionnaires
defenceman Kyle Flemington was
in the Saginaw Spirit training
camp before returning to Sarnia.
And forward Chase Clark was in
the London Knights camp.
"It's nice to
see the boys move up,"
Legionnaires general manager Bob
Williamson said. "It's great for
the organization, there's no
doubt about that. Jr. 'B' has a
good program and it gives them a
chance to go on to bigger and
better things."
Williamson said
more young players will be
interested in playing with the
Legionnaires because they've
seen the success players have
enjoyed with the club.
"We've had a lot
of calls," Williamson said,
noting players are familiar with
Sarnia's great record because
they follow developments on the
Internet.
