McDonalds join forces with
Sarnia Legionnaires

The Sarnia Legionnaires held
a press conference on
Wednesday August 12 at the
McDonalds on Christina
Street to announce their new
partnership with McDonalds
as the Major Title Sponsor.
On hand for the announcement
was owners Peter and Colleen
Buckley, Mike Johnson, Area
Supervisor and Theo Bet who
has joined the Legionnaires
ownership group and has
taken on the role of V.P. of
Marketing, Promotion and
Special Events.
Peter and Colleen Buckley
have supported the Ronald
McDonald House in London and
the Legionnaires announced
that a portion of ticket
sales will be dedicated to
the Ronald McDonald House
and that amount will be
matched by Peter and Colleen
all season long.
Stations will also be set up
for fans to make donations
at all the home games.
The Legionnaires will
continue to assist other
local organizations and
charities as they have done
in the past such as the
Royal Canadian Legion Branch
62, Inn of the Good
Shepherd and the Canadian
Cancer Society and McDonalds
has committed to help in
these worthy endeavors as
well.
Other announcements,
Art Turcotte has joined the
organization as the
Legionnaires Alumni
Ambassador. Art played
three season with the Sarnia
Legionnaires from 1957 -
1960 that included two
Championship wins in 1957-58
and 1958-1959.
With this being the 60th
Anniversary of Junior B
Hockey the team plans to
celebrate their hockey
history all season long by
honoring many past Jr. B
Championship teams at the
Sarnia Arena.
