Former Sarnia Legionnaire Scott Stafford is on the move again. The one-handed marvel has been traded to the St. Thomas Stars by the Thorold Blackhawks. That means Legionnaire fans will get to see him twice more this season.

Thorold, which plays in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League's Golden Horseshoe Conference, is not slated to play in Sarnia this winter. But St. Thomas, which is in the Western Conference along with the Legionnaires, will visit the Brock Street Barn twice more (on Jan. 7 and again on Jan. 30).

Stafford played two seasons in Sarnia, scoring 11 regular season goals and adding 30 assists. Last spring, he scored two game-winning goals in the playoffs, helping the Legionnaires win the Weir Cup as Western Jr. 'B' champions.

He was also named to the Mayor's Honour List for his tireless work in local schools, where he urged youngsters not to let disabilities stand in their way.

One of his post season goals was a crucial marker that came in the finals against the London Nationals. Stafford circled the London net and stuffed the puck into an open cage with the goalie down and out of position. Another came on a deflection in the first round of the playoffs against the Stars.

Stafford ended up in Thorold after leaving Sarnia to attend Brock University in St. Catharines. With the Blackhawks this season Stafford had two goals and three assists. He also had a shootout goal that does not count in his total.

He will continue to attend Brock, coming home on weekends to play for the Stars.
